Once I had the list, I started trying to cross items off of it.

Some of them were easy, like getting the other kids to be actors. After I’d helped them with their projects, even Jazmin was willing to show up for me. But they all had other stuff to do on the weekends, so when it came time to make a schedule, I’d have to work around all that.

Khalid helped me figure out the Ooze. That’s the black death gunk that leaks out of people’s mouths when the Doom attacks ’em.

Only thing I could think to use for the Ooze was hot tar.

But making actors put hot tar in their mouths? That seemed like a bad idea.

Plus, I didn’t know where to get hot tar.

So I asked Khalid what he’d do, because he seemed like the kind of dude who’d be into making stuff like Ooze.

I was right about that. Took him about two seconds to figure it out.

“That’s easy, dawg! Grape jelly and black food coloring.”

I already had grape jelly in the fridge. And Dad bought me the food coloring. So that took care of the Ooze.
